Folkestad vs Tim Klinger

Havasu: young vs. old 3/27/2009

They're catching 'em big-time at this week's Havasu Western FLW Series, and the Top 2 spots offer a pretty interesting contrast. In the lead with a 2-day, 33-04 total is 35-year-old Tim Klinger – a pretty steady 5-year FLW Tour pro who's best known for his 2004 Wal-Mart Open. Right behind him is 66-year-old Mike Folkestad with 32-09.

Folkestad's probably the most recognizable name in the West. He's won three U.S. Opens (including back-to-back victories), four Strens, an FLW Series and a Bassmaster invitational, plus countless regional pro-ams and weekend-event titles. And although he's made most of his living in the West, students of the sport know that he spent considerable time in the East, with heavy participation in the Bassmaster Invitationals and Top 100s beginning in the late-'80s.
